Port Charlotte
– Turn off the main road at Jimmy’s and you
soon arrive at this attractive village on the coast of Lochindaal. It has
several well-developed attractions including the Museum of Islay Life, the
Wildlife Centre and the Island’s Youth Hostel. At the creamery, the world
famous Islay cheese is manufactured and can be bought at the shop attached
to the premises. An attractive sandy beach runs along the northern edge
of the village and other secluded coves lie below the war memorial slightly
further south. There is also a very pleasant cafe/restaurant called the
Croft Kitchen.
