Bruichladdich and the Distillery On the North Western shore of Lochindaal the village of Bruichladdich has long and until recently boasted the most westerly distillery in Scotland. On a day when the sea mist had rolled in I dropped by to get a few photographs. The distillery was recently bought by a private consortium and has a wonderful website and the only webcams permanently on on the island

They have a well developed sense of corporate identity as the barrel sign shows using the colours identified with the product. As usual these smaller images link to the full-sized image.

In the courtyard of the distillery there area picnic tables and a shop. There are three tours a day for those wanting to see round. The webcams which point at the east loch and the west loch are situated in the highlighted circle. They show up better in the full-sized image The day had a fine sea mist, the jetty peers out through the mist in a spooky way.
a surprise plant Amazingly, considering the wild winters, the climate is very mild due to the calming effects of the Gulf Stream. In the Abbotsford Guest house next door to the distillery a fine yucca dominates the gate.
